ULINA – The Middle Finger Hammering the Dark and Heavy
ULINA’s dark and heavy sound shakes the core. His relentless style stems from a jack-of-all-trades mentality. As a vital background force in the rave scene, he unapologetically challenges the status quo.
Scooter’s Back to the Heavyweight Jam album hit hard, but heavy metal is what fuels his appreciation for intense electronic sounds. In 2016, wanting smooth music for his birthday, he converted an old sauna into a DIY club. Reluctantly stepping in as DJ because none of his friends could play, he soon took responsibility for everything – filling the space with smoke, lights, and a sound system.
“That’s where it all started, and suddenly it was quite addictive. I’m still on that path.”
By the following year, he was playing for larger audiences. The name ULINA is a variation of his feminine climbing nickname and a middle finger to conventions. That is why the logo, created for him by a friend, is pink and as unmasculine as possible.
Bassface – that look when you think 'ooh, this sounds good' – sums up ULINA’s sound. It rattles the soul with raw power. While all genre candies taste good, right now dark techno speaks to him the most.
He scripts his sets minute by minute and hammers through them. Floating, raging, and jumping energetically, he thrives in this environment. It is the smiles, euphoria, and sweat on the crowd that make the gig perfect.
His deep roots in the local circuit grew from self-taught grit. Starting with his pioneering UV-boulder raves at the Oulu Climbing Center, he went on to co-found Konehalli, a flagship warehouse rave concept in Oulu that sparked Quantum Leap and fueled alliances with collectives like LaavU, HUG, and KRA:FT.
Dedicated to the raw underground energy, ULINA actively builds the culture as a DJ, VJ, and event organizer armed with a full technical arsenal. Whether performing at Kosmos Festival or powering local raves, he stays true to the scene.
The goal is to keep surpassing himself. He is currently constructing massive plywood stage sets for Konehalli with his artist partner. Be ready for spectacular set designs. If you spot a need, fill it.
