MEK_ELEKTRO – Fusing Precision and Creativity

With engineering precision, MEK_ELEKTRO creates events vibe-first. Focusing on meticulous production and unique locations, the collective creates a hypnotic atmosphere where melodic electronic music resonates with a tribal pulse.

Mechanical Engineering students 2VN and Luminary had the idea for the collective in 2023 while queuing for electronic music tickets. Upon realising they shared the same enthusiasm for organising their own raves, they carved the name MEK_ELEKTRO. It welds the start of their major, the Finnish word mekaniikka, with ‘elektro’ – a nod to their machine‑driven sound.

The collective’s sonic palette spans from mystical progressive house and energetic trance to hard dance, UK garage, and drum & bass. Their philosophy is total artistic freedom, yet careful curation ensures quality. The priority is the experience itself.

Inspired by distinctive settings and the chance to experiment with audio technology, MEK_ELEKTRO fosters a dynamic ambience, extending from a cosy, tribe-like shared trance around a campfire to the raw intensity of hard dance, driven by its captivating energy.

With a light and colourful approach, they serve as a welcoming space, acting as a bridge to lower the threshold for new ravers. Their footprint covers varied terrain in Oulu: from fairytale forests to industrial sci-fi club nights.

Uncompromising on safety and prioritising accessibility within the scene, the collective operates on mutual support: if they can help, they do so gladly and the favour is returned.

With grounded ambition, they aim to stabilise their operations with a dedicated team. The upcoming event at the iconic Aaltosiilo, an architectural landmark designed by Alvar Aalto, marks MEK_ELEKTRO’s next major milestone.
